I have previously posted the decision to return to a 7.62x51mm cartridge, and I looked at a photograph of the designated rifle selection. My question is, exactly how much money in US Taxpayer dollars went into that research and development, because there is nothing wrong with the M14, which I believe is a much better rifle and already in arsenals. A new “Mattel” plastic toy said to be lighter but why? Weaker arms on soldiers? Incapable combat infantry skills, diminished and poorly trained? In basic training, the soldier should be strengthened. Not lowering standards and equipment to meet a new generation of pipe arm soldiers. Bad decision. Give the M14 to the troops and train them, up. Minimum infantry requirements should be on par with the USMC. Strong, capable, and efficient, soldiers.
