(CNSNews.com) – In an address today to the Sergeants Benevolent Association of New York City, Attorney General Jeff Session called on Americans to find a way to show gratitude to police officers, including by perhaps shaking an officers hand and telling him, “Thank you for your service.”
“There’s no doubt that the last few years have been tough times for law enforcement in America,” Session told the SBA, which is the labor union for sergeants in the New York Police Department.
“Morale among law enforcement has fallen,” said Sessions. “Fatal shootings of officers went up last year.
“Most Americans, however, know what I know,” he said. “Our police are one of the institutions that enjoys the highest confidence of the American public. That’s because they see you every day on their streets and in their neighborhoods.”
